This is probably one of the best pictures we have seen from Mars so far. This image was takin by Curiosity’s MAHLI hand-held camera which is fixed to the rover’s extendable arm. In the picture you can’t see the arm and your probably wondering why. The reason is because this picture was not just takin in one snap of the camera. The picture is from a collection of 55 photos takin by the rover and were pieced together. They overlap just enough where you cannot see the arm. Nasa says these kind of photos can help them monitor the status of Curiosity like dust accumulation and types of wear the rover is facing.
